Positive Outlook Developing: Sexual Identity and Education is a European project funded by the Erasmus+ programme (KA220-YOU) that promotes a profound transformation in the way we understand, teach and share sexuality with young people.
PODSIE was born out of the urgent need to overcome limited sex education focused on risk prevention and move towards inclusive, participatory education centred on well-being. From a positive and pluralistic perspective, we work to enable young people, educators, families and institutions to discuss sexuality freely, with empathy and respect.
Over three years of international collaboration, we developed innovative educational resources, training strategies, awareness campaigns, and meeting spaces to pave the way for sex education with an inclusive, gender, and human rights perspective.
Sexuality is not limited to biology or imposed norms. It is a social, emotional, cultural and political construct. At PODSIE, we work with a broad vision that includes gender identities, sexual orientations, emotional relationships and diverse ways of experiencing the body.
We want young people to have access to accurate information, to be able to recognise themselves in their personal journeys and to understand diversity as a value rather than a threat. In this sense, all our materials promote respect for differences and the fight against discrimination, especially towards LGBTQI+ people.
📚 Positive and non-formal education
In contrast to the traditional approach focused on fear, danger and prohibitions, we propose sex education based on curiosity, responsible exploration and the affirmation of desire as part of human development.
The non-formal methodology allows learning to be experienced through play, dialogue among peers, and group work. Our resources seek precisely that: to create safe environments where every young person can express themselves without judgement and receive answers tailored to their reality.
🧑‍🏫 Training and empowerment of youth workers and teachers
Professionals who work with young people need up-to-date, accessible and contextualised tools. PODSIE offers ongoing, practical training so that educators, youth workers and counsellors can rigorously address sensitive issues such as sexuality, identity and consent.
The project facilitates international exchange between professionals, promotes networking and offers multilingual resources that can be used in schools, youth associations and community projects.
🎲 Interactive, fun and inclusive tools
Board games, digital platforms, educational guides, toolkits for trainers… At PODSIE, we believe that materials should be as diverse as young people themselves. That’s why we design resources that are accessible and adaptable to multiple contexts.
Our products are developed with the direct participation of young people, ensuring that they are useful, attractive and meaningful to those who will use them.
📢 Awareness raising, advocacy and community dialogue
Sex education is not just an individual issue, it is a social and political issue. To achieve sustainable change, dialogue with families, public officials and the media is necessary.
PODSIE organises public campaigns, open days, information points and signature collections with the aim of transforming the collective perception of sexuality and making it an integral part of an education for critical and democratic citizenship.
